Important - Please see fitting instructions before installing into metal or uPVC doors. It is not possible to cut holes in to existing glass, (single or double glazed units) because the glass will be toughened glass. You must therefore take your cat flap to a glazing company, who must reglaze the door, cutting the required hole in the glass before its toughened,  or remove the glass section and replace it with a new upvc panel.

Staywell Pet Door - 300, 400 & 500 Series

Before installing your cat flap please read the fitting instructions supplied with your cat flap carefully.

Tools required - Pencil, Ruler, Jig or key hole saw, Drill, Set square, Screwdriver, Tape Measure, Glue
Measurement and marking
Measure the belly height of your cat. This is usually 100 - 150 mm ( 4" - 6")
i
Mark this measurement on the outside of your door and draw a straight horizontal line 168mm (6 12")
Cutting a hole for your cat flap
a) In wood

Using the horizontal line as the starting point, draw a square 168mm wide x 175mm high.

i
Drill holes at each corner
i
Cut along the lines using a jigsaw
i
Smooth out the rough edges
i
b) In Glass

Using the horizontal line as the base, cut a circular hole to a diameter of 212mm.

i

It is not possible to cut hole in toughened glass or double glazing units except at the time of manufacture.

400 series will only operate in double glazing if a plastics spacer bar is used. If a metal spacer bar is used it must be left unjoined. Cutting holes in glass can be hazardous. We advise you to consult your local glazier

i c) In Metal

Catflaps 300 & 500 Series

Follow the instructions for "Cutting a hole for your catflap in wood"

i
400 Series

The cat flap will not operate if fitted to a door containing metal e.g. uPVC coated metal doors, metal skin doors or security doors. The catflap must be isolated from the metal in a wood frame.

Using the horizontal line, draw a square with minimum dimensions of 306mm x 306mm.

Cut along the lines with a jigsaw.

i
Fit a wood frame to the hole with internal dimensions of 168 mm wide 175mm high.
i
i d) In walls

Follow the instructions for "Cutting a hole for your catflap in wood"

i
Staywell Cat flaps are designed to fit any depth hole. It is recommended that the tunnels be glued onto the frame. Simply attach tunnels to the required depth.
i
Your Staywell cat flap is fitted with the red 4 way lock on the inside of your door. Place the cat flap in the hole and mark screw holes in the outside cover in pencil
i
Remove the cat flap and drill the holes with a 4.5mm drill bit.
i
Screw into place and if needed cut the screws down to size and file to ensure no sharp edges. Cover the screw holes with the blanking plugs supplied to ensure a neat finish. Push fit the 4-way locking handle into place.

Your Staywell cat flap is now ready to use.
