Product Review The Staywell 715

This cat flap is simple it consists of an inner and outer frame made from light weight plastic, The outer frame has a clear flap with magnetic strips to hold the flap in position, the inner flap has a solid removable  cover which can be used when the use of the cat flaps is not required. This cat flap is not suitable for glass

The cat flap its self comes with fixing bolts and a cutting template for cutting the correct sized hole.

Installation Starts Here

Step 1 - Yes we know its unlikely the cat will stand still when you want him to.

The point of this is to get an ideal of the height to the top of your cats legs when standing, this is the height you will be fixing the bottom of the cat flap to, as its the most comfortable for your cat.

I
Step 2

Once you have the height you can use this to set the template provided in the box to the correct height, then using the template drill through all four corners ensuring you keep your drill level.

I
Step 3

Now using a jigsaw you can cut from hole to hole around all four sides until the centre on your panel has been cut completely out.

I
Step 4

UPVC door panels will leave an exposed edge of core foam and possibly a thin layer of ply, to finish this of neatly cut the foam back an inch and line the hole with some UPVC batten (or Timber) you can either glue the sections in to place or screw in from the out side.

This will also reinforce the bolts which hold the catflap and you will need to drill through it.

I
Step 5

Now its time to mark out and drill the holes to hold your cat flap to do this hold the cat flap in position ensuring it is level then mark the four holes with a pen, remove your cat flap out of the way then drill completely through the panel.

Use a drill bit slightly larger then the bolt its self as this make alignment easier.

I
Step 6

Finally use the bolts provided to bolt the cat flap in to place its also best to use some neutral cure silicone around the exterior and interior of the catflap to seal it into place.

Tip - Getting your cat used to the new cat flap - Fix the cat flap wide open for a day or two with some cello tape until your cat uses it to come and go, when your cats uses the cat flap, then remove the tape and allow your cat to use the door and the flap.
